While on a healing journey ridding ourselves of negative emotions, it may be difficult to cultivate positive emotions. However, cultivating positive emotions are exactly what we need to help propel us on our journey. Just like with any practice, cultivating positive emotions is a process. But, once we cultivate and strengthen this muscle, we will gain new perspectives and opportunities in and around our life and thus, help propel us to keep going. In this wonderful meditation, we build up our wealth by placing gold coins in our well-being piggy bank.
Following Denise’s guidance, I began placing gold coins in my well-being piggy bank. While walking this morning with my mom’s dog, Buffy, I was blessed with seeing a herd of deer, a unique cloud formation painted in pink from the rising sun, one of my favorite birds perched on top of a tree, a Robin and numerous other birds flying together in the sky. Seeing these ‘miracles’ cultivated such an array of positive emotions inside my heart. Thinking about things I was grateful for in the here and now, I thought about the quiet room I was in so I could listen to this beautiful meditation uninterrupted. I thought of the plush carpet my feet sank into. I thought about the comfortable bed I sat on. I thought about my breath. Visualizing these gold coins being placed in my well-being piggy bank, I filled myself with the wealth of gratitude. Indeed, today is going to be great!
Because our brain is naturally hardwired to see the negative, cultivating positive emotions may seem difficult or perhaps even a little silly at first. Having said that, it can be done if we just open our eyes to what gold coins we already have. Appreciating what gold coins we already have will bring much wealth in the form of new opportunities that will help propel us to continue on our journey. Always growing, we won’t just be surviving our life, we will actually be thriving in life!
