From the first part of the experience I learned that to learn truth I must be willing to let go of my identity - everything I think makes me who I am. Stepping away from my own self-indulgence creates a peace. Being mindfully unaware of myself makes me more aware of everything around me. With each inhale I was not taking in my actual true self, but the truth of the world around me. However I see myself as a whole, so for something to come in another must leave- Which I left to the exhaling of self. Inhale of the truth "sat" and exhale of self "nam" From the second half of the experience I learned that when I hold onto tension and negative feelings they can bottle up and put a lot of strain on me. By releasing all of the built up tension I am able to be in a state of peacefulness. Through holding my breath and clenching my fists I felt the tension of the weight of holding onto something, when I exhaled and released myself I was lighter, and more peaceful.

Morning drives to work while meditating
On my way to work is probably an important time for me to slow down and meditate because my work is very stressful. This was my first morning trying it and I realized any meditations that involves movement of the arms will not be feasible. I think body scans may be better for me in the mornings, however, it makes me nervous because body scans are typically for falling asleep and I don’t want to be tired when I arrive to work I want to feel energized! I will continue this Journey.

What an awakening and energizing experience this meditation provided me! Prior to listening, I was feeling slightly sluggish. As I began listening, I focused my attention on my breath. It feels so good to Become One with your breath! Then, following Lauren’s soothing voice, I began repeating the mantra, Sat Nam. Repeating Sat on my inhale, I felt an awakening occur in my body. My cat laid on my phone while my hands were outstretched and fingers spread apart and I was breathing long slow breaths. She paused the meditation but I didn’t know that. I probably spent five extra minutes breathing. I think she finds it funny as she purrs sitting beside me and looking at me. I feel so incredibly energized and it’s not a wild energy, it’s a peaceful and calm aliveness. I’m so grateful I did this meditation this morning. Great way to start my day!
