Flashback to childhood
I flashed back to a time when a teacher said a sarcastic “of course you do” when we all shared either what was most important to us or what we were most looking forward to about Easter. Most kids said Easter eggs, food, the egg hunt, etc. I said what I thought would impress the teacher, something about the religious aspect, which was so not me. In trying to be accepted and admired, I instead made the teacher roll her eyes. And it stung. 50 years later, I recall that feeling so vividly. Now to unpack the family dynamics that had me feeling that way, like I had to impress people to be accepted. There is much to unpack.
